Only cable companies are distributing set-top boxes that can access all of the digital cable and video on-demand services available through their networks. Consumers can access the internet through many possible devices, yet MVPD’s services are only available through the set-top boxes distributed by cable companies. The FCC may potentially rule against the cable companies paving the way for competition and standards in the industry.
