A Foxconn employee, 25 year-old Sun Danyong, allegedly committed suicide after losing an iPhone prototype.

After the employee could not locate one of sixteen prototypes entrusted to his possession, a Foxconn manager ordered an immediate search and interrogation of that employee. Thursday at 3 AM, the employee jumped from his apartment window and ended his life.

Apple gave the following statement to CNet following the news of this employee’s death: “We are saddened by the tragic loss of this young employee, and we are awaiting results of the investigations into his death. We require our suppliers to treat all workers with dignity and respect.”
