Amazon announced its plan to acquire apparel and footwear retailer Zappos.com.

Zappos.com ranked 3rd among online retailers last week within the “Apparel and Accessories” category.

Compensation for the acquisition was decided on $807 million in Amazon stock, plus about $40 million in cash and restricted stock. Currently this deal is worth $900 million.
